| | | Description |
Not unlike general historical fiction, in historical fantasy actual historical elements are given a fantasy treatment, or myths are given a sense of factual validation. The innovation of this type of fiction is the mixing of historic events withimaginary ones. However, in this subgenre, fantastic elements such as mythic figures or magical objects, are in the foreground, whereas historical detail exists mainly as narrative support.
